Photographer’s Note

The seven-story Great Mill on the waterfront of the Motlawa River built by the Teutonic Knights in 1350 is the largest civil construction in Gdansk. Wielki Mtyn (Great Mill) operated from 1350 until 1945. It was used to produce 200 tons of flour a day.

And I agree with travel guide who said "Gdansk is a jewel of Gothic and Baroque architecture", a place worth to visit.

When I was there, I couldn't visit Gdansk...and it was a pity. (well....a nice reason to come back hahahahahaha).

Excellent light & pov, I like the people there to give it a lovely dynamism.

Was für ein Gebäude! Toll - allein diese Dachfläche mit den vielen Gauben! Alles sieht sehr gepflegt aus und es scheint ein schöner Ort zum Verweilen zu sein. Mir gefällt, dass Du die Mühle in ihrem heutigen Umfeld zeigst - und die natürlichen Farben.

Amazing construction. Besides churches that must have been the biggest building in the area for centturies. Such sloped roof several stories high is extraordinary. Well framed shot done on a good light.

It is hardly looking like a mill to me. This building looks more like an institution to me but it was 1350 and people at that time must have different idea of mill.

Yet this makes a fine architecture for your capture of such interesting setting with a church behind. A lovely presentation of very impressive POV.

Beautiful view of the Great Mill. Interesting composition with the Tower of St. Katharina church behind it. You were in June 2006, it means you were there short time after a big fire of the church. Great shot. Fantastic sharpness. Regards

The trees are framing well the mill. The presence of the people has an effect of scale. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the mill. The picture is clear and sharp. The good luminosity is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Fascinating imposing roof with a tower behind that seems also wonderful. I agree with you. The architecture of Gdansk is a treat to the eyes. Pleasant atmosphere of people in the benches and good inclusion of the lamppost at left FG.

An imposing mill which have an interesting and original architecture...The steep roof, the windows or attics, the tower(is it part of the mill?) are interesting details to look at.
