Photographer’s Note
The main street in Oradour Sur Glane, under a heavily loaded sky. A very impressive place to visit. The original village was destroyed on June 10, 1944, when 642 of its inhabitants were murdered by a German Waffen-SS company. A new village was built post-war on a nearby site and the original has been maintained as a memorial.

what a sad place. i read something about it after some photos of it appeared
on TE a couple weeks ago. it is good, that it has been left as it was...
excellent shot and hdr-/B&W-processing capturing the devastation and sadness
that still exists even today after 65 years. great job & best wishes, thor.

Bonjour Wolf,

Hello Wolf.
I think I have seen another photo of this place. I would like to visit it one day.
Your b/w photo perfectly captures the bleakness of the scene, with these stark ruins rising up against the dark, threatening sky. I think the perspective is very strong, looking along the street, and the b/w HDR conversion is a great idea to convey this memorial and reminder of mankind's barbarism.

Andrew

hi Wolf,
I visited this sad place 8 years ago : an hard but necessary visit to do.
The deserted street here and the B&W reinforce the uncomfortable atmosphere, the desolation feeling from the ruins.
Good frame and composition.

Hi Wolf,
A dramatic, impressive photo. The sky really adds a lot, but is not the only aspect that makes this photo so impressive. I also like the persepctive looking right down the streetcar tracks, and of course, need it be said the B&W is a great decision?
Cheers,
Jordan

Dag Wolf,
Bedankt.
Prettig weekend,
John.
