Photographer’s Note
I don't know what to say about this view.
Just because... because it is far too conventional and you can see it in so many other photos.
It's one of many photos which was meant to never be posted - "just because it's too conventional".
But, after looking at some TE photos of very famous sights, I thought to myself: Gosh!... why not, after all?..
Should I stick to "irregular" points of view each time --
"No, no, that wasn't a question."
-----------------------------------------------------
PP work: minor levels adjustment; sharpening 50% before and 50% after resizing; lens distortion (perspective) correction.
Info about the shot:
ISO-200; Metering Mode: Spot.
PS. By the way, out of curiosity, on TE I've found only 1 recently posted photo the POV of which almost fully coincides with my shot... how strange?
Enjoy the city :) It's really the city of light... that's why I included so much sky in the image.

Bonsoir Elena,
Joli point de vue typique de Lucerne.
Le grand angle nous permet de voir le pont de bois et la facade principale de l'église.
Bonne soirée

Hello Elena!
Luzern is a small, charming and beautiful city!
I was there in a very cold day and it had snowed the whole night! The sun came up and all that white over those magnificent buildings really won my heart!
Your picture reminds me of the excellent moments I spent there... one day only!
Sharpness, exposure, depth of field and natural colors are excellent! The pov was very well chosen and the composition is very effective and attractive!
TFS - congratulations!
My best regards,
Neyvan

It's a fine postcard of Lucern Elena!
if one posted only non-conventional shots on TE, this present site would be almost empty, dont you think !?

Elena,
This is a nice shot even if it is conventional. Your composition is fine showing the scene from a nice angle which gives the shot depth and direction. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. The sky is beautiful and you have captured it nicely.

Hi Elena
The subject matter may be very conventional but the pov is not so. A really nicely composed scene and in focus throughout. The sky completes the the picture. Elaborate framing but not over done - I do like it. Tfs, Marlene

Hello Elena. An all world photo indeed. The text, which you wrote to this photo, pleases me. But I think, this kind photo have the largest acceptance on TrekEarth (learning about the world through photography). However, the photo is beautiful and worth seeing. Regards, Wolfgang.

dear Elena,
modern arts make it possible to take all kinds of composition,
about paintings, photos, designs...
and those includes so called "stereotypes",
but it does not mean that stereotypes are good,
after all, do not use stereotypes except it fits objective characteristic.
anyway,
this is a strange view for me as one Japanese,
green onions on the roofs, orange corn on other roof,
quite like a miniature set for the movie, in that the monster destroy the buildings..
(already some Godzillas have been destroying Tokyo several times!)
but this is very calm and beautiful view shot of wonderful lake shore of course.
thank you,
Akihisa

Hi Elena,
Just as you say, a fairly conventional picture. But the POV is very good as you have included many beautiful and well known buildings inside the frame. I looked through all TE ictures from this city, and find this one to be among the better, so naturally it deserves a place here!
Kind regards

Hello Elena,
I guess we all post conventional photos now and then, even if we try hard to find a new angle, a new approach, that noone ever thought of before.
Very often these conventional photos turn out the best, like this excellent composition. A fine POV, the nice looking church on one side, the strange little tower on the other, the mountains in the background. Good clarity, fine colours. What else do we need in a picture?
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi, Elena!
I like this "conventional" shot because it is not so usual thanks to huge sky with mysterious clouds and incomprehensible colour of water.
You touched interesting theme what shots we choose for myself and for TE. I think that every the most conventional shot has spirit of author and it is necessary to see and realize only.
Good luck.

Bonjour Elena
très belle photo de Luzerne avec ces montagnes à l'horizon, j'aime bien la blancheur des édifices qui ressortent à merveille dans ce ciel bleu.

P.S. J'ai apprécié le WS que tu as fais de ma dernière photo.

Hello Elena, There are several reasons why this should be posted, 1) you like it, 2) It is a very beautiful image, very post card like & technically perfect. 3) I'm sure there are many people who have not scene this scene before, as you said, you could only find one like it from this POV.
At the moment I can not think of more reasons but a very beautiful shot it is, a little conventional but who cares ;-))).
Congratulation.
Take care

Perhaps you find that the point of view si conventional, but for me the result is very good: nice colors, excellent shaprness and good depth with the mountain in the background.
All the best,

Hello again my dear Elena
What another great landscape/architecture shot!
I overlooked again, this is also great.
Perfect composition and tight framework.
Well calculated color balance/coordination is splendid.
The proportion of lake/sky/land is moderate and perfect.
Thanks for sharing and best regards,
Have a nice weekend !

Hello Elena,
Ok, it's a touristical site and we have seen many photos of it. But you captured it with a large part of sky, that produce an unusual view. Well done !

Why do you think it's too conventional?
And even if it were so, what's the matter?
I've never seen this image in other photos here or in postcards, but anyway even if it was a repetition of what other have shot, one must judge the quality and the composition of it and I think they are excellent, without the least doubt. The photo has an enviable clarity and sharpness and the colours are very bright and alive. I like very much the ripples in the lake surface, the interesting clouds, and the solitary tower near the famous bridge. ( I was lucky to have seen the original one before it was burnt).
Thank you for reviving my past travels in Switzerland.
Best greetings,
Donato

Hello Elena,
I really like your comment on this one. This is a very typical picture of Luzern. It looks like a nice post card, but you are absolutely right. Sometimes we should just take some nice traditional shots. Why not? Good post.
Sincerely,
Kate

Привет Елена,
thank You for your kind comments.
You say this photo is too conventional, well,I guess its just a personal preferences, because I found it quite fresh, cheerful, full of nice, soft and natural colors and,of course, architecture which is a major attraction here (IMHO).
Well done,thank You :-)

A beautiful capture of the spirit of Luzern, Elena, and not the most usual POV. As a strange coincidence I saw you uploading this photo when I actually was staying overnight in... Luzern! So in the morning I had to go down to Reuss - only a couple of blocks from my hotel - to see where you actually had been standing, as I couldn't get the "pieces" together.
And to my surprise I realized that I've never been that far on the right bank and I've never really seen the Jesuit Church. To me Luzern is facing much more in the other direction; toward the lake, the railway station and the Cultural Center (KKL). So I very much agree with your title: Why not..?, as it made me open my eyes.
And looking at the shot from home it doesn't just bring back memories, but it's also well showing the beauty and tidiness of central Switzerland. Very well done!

Hi dear Elena. Am i noticing an increase in rhetorical questions in your communiques? No, don't answer that. And as usual I do enjoy reading your notes, particularly when they reveal your Should i or Shouldn't i frame of mind. I am sure that in other, non aesthetic aspects, you are a decisive person.Anyway, i do like this conventional image because it not only shows us beauty but it also reveals your technical mastery of composition, colour and light management. Regards. Klaudio.

Hello Elena,
Finally I am commenting one of your latest photos on TE, much belated, but better than never. :) Be it conventional or not, it is however a worth wile photo to see here with all its well presented details, starting from the good composition, which leaves a good part of the photo to the bright sky and the beautiful clouds, to the beautiful colours and excellent overall clarity. You have caught very well the summer atmosphere of this lake-side city. I have only once visited it, believe or not, over 40 years ago with my parents. I cannot remember much, but I remember the same kind of lovely summer atmosphere when we stopped shortly in this city. Thanks for sharing!
Greetings from now chilly and rainy Finland,

Elena
There always are differences among photos of the same place but this one may interest to persons like: ( my case ), who have never been at this place. At the left side I wonder what is the orange roof, covering perhaps an opened market. Noticeable is the fact of the church so closed to the water. During seasonal floods it may be hit anyway. ( Here in Portugal this month of October looks like summer. Really the water is warmer now than in the past latest months. This never happened but the world had very climateric chances. At nigth I have to sleep naked and cover only a little with the sheet. ( Be a little patient while I have not the letter ready to you ). Warmly ever with you. Tomi
