Photographer’s Note

El Templo Expiatorio del Sagrado Corazón (en catalán Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor) es una iglesia situada en la montaña del Tibidabo, en Barcelona, obra del arquitecto Enric Sagnier i Villavecchia y finalizada por su hijo Josep Maria Sagnier i Vidal. Su construcción se prolongó de 1902 a 1961.

El aspecto exterior del templo es el de un recinto amurallado fortificado de piedra de Montjuïc, presidido por un monumental templo neogótico con una doble escalinata de aire monumental. El conjunto está formado por una cripta inferior y la iglesia superior, con planta central con cúpula sobre ocho columnas. El estilo del conjunto se basa en una línea románica combinada con el templo de verticalidad gótica, cubierto con una cúpula ochavada coronada con la imagen del Sagrado Corazón, obra inicial de Frederic Marès (destruida en 1936) y sustituida por otra de Josep Miret, de 1950.

Junto al templo está el Parque de Atracciones Tibidabo, un espacio emblemático de la ciudad de Barcelona, por su condición de punto más alto de la ciudad y porque en la memoria de todos los ciudadanos es un referente del ocio. Desde la cima, siempre se ha visto la cara más amable de una realidad urbana, con un horizonte limpio en el mar y las calles rectas del Eixample que enlaza la montaña con el centro histórico.

Expiatorio Temple of the Sacred Heart (Catalan Temple Expiatori Sagrat Cor) is a church located on Mount Tibidabo in Barcelona by the architect Enric Sagnier and finished by his son Josep Maria Sagnier i Vidal. Its construction lasted from 1902 to 1961.

The external appearance of the temple is a stone walled fortress of Montjuïc, chaired by a monumental neo-Gothic church with a monumental double staircase air. The set consists of a lower crypt and upper church with domed central plant on eight columns. The style of the whole line is based on a combined Romanesque church with Gothic verticality, covered with an octagonal dome crowned with the image of the Sacred Heart, original works of Frederic Marès (destroyed in 1936) and replaced by another Josep Miret, of 1950.

Beside the temple is the Tibidabo Amusement Park, an emblematic of the city of Barcelona, by virtue of his highest point of the city and because the memory of all citizens is a benchmark of leisure. From the summit, has always been more friendly face of an urban reality, with a clear horizon in the sea and the straight streets of Eixample which links the mountain to the historic center.

Bonsoir Charo,
Le contraste entre le temple et la parc d'amusement est intéressant. Les couleurs vives et le point de vue vertical sont appropriés. L'architecture du temple est complexe et superbe. Le carousel est quant à lui très stylisé et coloré. Jolie travail!

Hi Charo.
Thanks for this reminder of the almost distant past - it was 1974 and I made my first visit to Tibidabo with some friends, including a little girl of 5 who loved to go on the rides in the amusement park. This is a delightful composition to show the monument behind the colours of the carousel and the well positioned bird painting. Excellent exposure, beautiful sky, informative note. Well done.

Quelle cathédrale avec ce clocher fuyant de ce merveilleux ciel, l'arichecture est merveilleux, on voit superbement tous le détail, le manège coloér donne encore en pluss une superbe touche de couleur, splendide.

Hola amiga Charo,
en este lugar he disfrutado yo de pequeño, después he subido con mis hijos muchas veces, y ahora estoy deseando ir con mi nieto. Es un lugar mágico, del que guardo bellos recuerdos, y que tu foto me ha devuelto a la memoria. Me gusta la superposición del tiovivo (lo más lúdico) con el Templo (lo más espiritual) detrás suyo, en un buen encuadre con profundidad y una gran fuerza cromática, con unos colores muy intensos.
Ese cielo está espectacular y es un buen telón de fondo.
Bonito trabajo, con dos buenos WS, que incluyen la magnífica vista panorámica sobre Barcelona.

thanks for showing that. While recently in Barcelona I was always tempted to go to Tibidabo very curious what is actually there to see -and finally in your shot I can enjoy this view.
I like the contrast of the church and the park for children.

Que bonita foto do templo e carrossel.
Dá vontade de estar no local para ouvir a musica que emana do carrossel e poder observar o templo.
As cores suaves e a excelente perspectiva demonstram uma boa fotografia.

It's a bit an unusual sight with a part of the Tibidabo Amusement Park on the same picture with the church Expiatorio del Sagrado Corazón.

Excellente présentation et magnifique temple. l'architecture est merveilleuse et la qualité d'image nous en montre bien les détails tant que pour le temple que pour le kiosque. Bonne composition et superbes couleurs.
Excuse-moi si je ne peux être plus souvent sur TE mais j'essaie de ne pas oublier mes meilleurs amis.

O templo de fundo é enorme de um tamanho gigante tem uma arquitectura única, gostei muito deste carrousel bem bonito e cheio de cores a alegria das crianças , bom cores e luz, parabéns!!
