Lake Baikal Headland Photo

Photographer’s Note

I waited until the fg headland was sunlit, & the bg headland was partially lit. Taken from the headland near the picturesque fishing village of Baikalskoe, easily reached by local bus, from the bigger town of Severobaikalsk, located at the northern end of Lake Baikal in Eastern Siberia. Baikal is the world's deepest lake, & holds more fresh water, than all the North American Great Lakes combined.

Hello Chris,
Ce paysage grandiose est désert. Je n'y vois aucune construction, ni de bateaux sur la vaste étendue d'eau. Une grande zone où de faibles jeux de lumières sont visible, semble avoir été défrichée. Heureusement, ton avant-plan habille un peu ce tableau ;o)

La lumière est superbe sur le relief de l'arrière plan et j'aime beaucoup ce dégradé de nuances dans l'eau.La verdure au premier plan donne une très bonne touche de couleur à cette composition.

Quelle iamge, le tons, le contraste, le bleu du lac avec la roche douce en fond, es sapins en premier plan, une immensité grandiose, vraimetn une grane réussite.

Hi Chris,

The trees in nthe foreground takes my eyes toward the headland which is giving depth to the photo. Playing with the light to show different areas of the headland is an asset to the composition. The quality of the light is enhancing the different tints of colors of the scenery. Have a nice day.

Hey Chris..an amazing trek this must have been worth it..sometimes it becomes difficult adjusting the polarization and the exposure..the light is harsh off the surface of water..

you done well here my friend...love the proportions..if only a boat was cruising in the endless blue

Olá Chris, I didn't know that about this lake...that's a lot of fresh water and I'm impressed. Beautiful view in a splendid composition. Love the presence of the bright green pines looking to the other margin that has wonderful shadows.

What striking shade of blue to the vast deep lake.
The lush everygreens contrat brilliantly with the lake.
The distant cliffs and shore look very prestine and undeveloped.

Which splendid feeling of space on this photograph, accentuated by the presence of this rock projection of the foreground. You have gone to Siberia too! what a travel!
A really wonderful lake-scenery with a fatastic light and deep and intense colours. The Rock with the trees in fg creates a fine depth and a very appealing chromatic contrast with the dark water. There is a magic atmosphere in this far out place: the call of the wild!
