Photographer’s Note
This photo is taken at Trittenheim in the Moselle Valley.
The St. Lawrence chapel (Laurentiuskapelle) is dedicated to the vine, and first mentioned in 1569. In thoses days people lived on the hill near the chapel, which was also a church for the surrounding villages. Trittenheim was still written as ’Tritthamme’.
Every year, on the second weekend in August, there is a procession to the chapel and a service for the Patron Saint of vine, asking for a fruitful harvest and to be spared from bad weather and plague.
The chapel was restored from 1997 to 1999.
In the WS you can see an interior photo.

Hello Gunnar,
A well chosen point of view with the vine lined road channelling the eyes towards this charming little chapel. The image has a pleasing atmosphere to it engendered by the lovely warm lighting. The golden toned tree makes a splendid contrast with the greens of the vines. Lovely natural colours and excellent sharpness. Very pleasing to contemplate on a wet and windy November morning.

Hello Gunnar,
The Mosel valley is a very nice area, I like this area. Here, a very beautiful shot very well balanced with the chapel well located in the composition and a great depht with the prospect to the vineyard in the BG. Beautiful contrats well collected too. An interesting and nice post for TE.
Have a nice week,

Hej Gunnar,
A nicely balanced composition, the road going diagonally up to the chapel, which is placed off-centre and is flanked by the tree with its autumn colours. The tree is even more conspicious since it is surrounded by the green vines. The shadows of the vines have created a fine striped pattern along the road. Beautiful colours and very good sharpness.

Hello Gunnar,
A vault dedicated to the wine? there is nothing more natural, since the wine is associated with the mass. Your choice of framing is pleasant. The tree ignited by the autumn and the light is better effect in the green vine. A beautiful photograph, carried out well. Cheer.
Have a nice day

Hej Gunnar
In Germany they have nice ones too, you've been there a bit too early as the vineyards are still green, this year the gold period has been very short, nice image under a fine blue sky
have a nice day JY

Hello Gunnar,
Another attractive photograph from your French holiday.
The low warm coloured sunlight from the left lights up the scene, so that there is a good contrast between light and shade on the white walls of the chapel. It also casts long shadows of the vines on the road.
There is a strong lead in along the side of the road, which takes the eye straight to the chapel, which is the main element of interest.
The top of the hedge runs close to a thirds line.
The chapel is placed exactly on a vertical line of thirds, and its strong triangular shape reinforces the way it anchors the image.
The sloping hillside on the right introduces a good diagonal.
The orange autumnal colour of the bush is also placed in a strong position on the thirds grid, and neatly balances the composition.
A fine picture.
An illustrative diagram in the WS.
Kind regards,
Peter.

Hej Gunnar,
A really fine composition. Your position of the chapel is perfect. In particular I like the bending path that leads up to the chapel. The tree in beautiful autumn colours is also really nice element. I also like the spire of the chapel against the clear blue sky. TFS and have nice evening!

Hej Gunnar,
the photo radiates with rich and crisp autumnal colours! I wonder what makes these colours so special in autumn? maybe it is also the air which changes them imperceptibly?
Very good composition; interesting beautiful view - with a touch of an orange-reddish "flame" enlivening the tranquil scene...
Kindest regards,
Elena

The architectural features of this small chapel look very expressively in such a beautiful surrounding of the vineyard and hills decorated by autumn. The soft before-sunset light underlines the beauty of the scene. Excellently composed and captured!
