Photographer’s Note

I took this picture when I was on my way to Sihanouk Ville. This is called Kirirom, a place where people usually stop and pay a pray to Yeay Mao, a spirit that people strongly believe in. And this is just part of that place. After praying, people may just come here for views because there are a lot of mountains and good temperature.

Hi Sothy,

I'm not sure how to look at your photo and to catch up what your were aiming at.

It's not a landscape photo, it's not a descriptive image that shows a temple or another structure we usually associate with prayers locations. So without a description, there's no way to know what is this place other than a red bench, at least from a westerner view that doesn't read Khmer.

But the way I first react at your image, is in relation with a series of photography I have seen long time ago, with a red chair that was shot in a lot of different locations around the world.

So I just hope I don't offend you if I don't see the spirituality or a visual link with religion (other than beautiful nature, I have to admit) in this scene, but I do see a graphic approach of a bench in an unexpected spot, in red flashy colour contrasting with the overall green scenery. Bold colours that contribute to the graphic perception.
