Photographer’s Note
Bodie Island Lighthouse, North Carolina, USA, is halfway between the Currituck Beach and Cape Hatteras Lighthouse on Highway 12 south of Nags Head, just a couple of miles from the bypass.
It was raining when this was taken and the raindrops are visible on the very large scale print. Scanned in from threeprints, photomerged, sharpened and color corrected as best I could.
I had spent a couple of days shooting photos on a Nikon Coolpix 5000. Just as I was about to leave the lighthouse interior, lightening hit the lighthouse which was then closed. About two minutes later I discovered the CoolPix would not show anything on the LCD screen (and even later - the memory card was dead). Bad static discharge. Cost of a new sensor from Nikon was $400 plus labor. Bought a new camera.

A masterpiece " as best I could" is very usual, every shot in every corner is like that: no skills, no taste, a true banality.
(No joking, one of the best photos I´ve seen on TE).Congratulations.

Well, the best you could isn't bad at all! I'm not an expert at panorama stitching but I rather like the result. Good composition, great sharpness, I really like the stormy light that gives special colors and a disquieting atmosphere (sorry for your camera though).
The large version is good but a bit noisy (in the dark area in particular).
