Photographer's Note

The Visitor Information Centre in Dinosaur Provincial Park was only a short distance away from the lookout on the mesa. It afforded us the opportunity to confirm our walk on the morrow to view fossils in situ. In addition to an information desk, there is a fossil preparation lab, theatre, gift shop, small exhibit gallery, park administration offices, plus washrooms.

The area of the park was once, during the lifetime of dinosaurs, a lush coastal plain adjacent to the Bearpaw Sea. But, of course, the present-day landscape is the result of glacial melt-water occurring from the end of the Wisconsin Ice Age, only 15,000 years ago.
