Photographer’s Note
This is the city of Las Vegas. This is in the southern part of the city looking roughly north obviously right next to the airport. You can see a good number of the casinos from this vantage point. Starting on the far left the golden one is the Mandalay Bay, and to its right the pyramid shaped one is the Luxor, which was very nice inside. If keep looking to the right you'll see what appears to be a lot of skyscrapers in a row, but it's really New York, New York. The only other one I can positively identify is the Stratosphere which is the Space Needle thing on the right side of the shot.
During my short stay I was in the Venetian, Caesar’s Palace, Luxor, Hilton, Harrah’s, and finally the Bellagio, where the movie “Oceans 11” took place. I did get some shots of the water show in front of the Bellagio but they’re not that great.
It was 105f/41C when I took the shot, the hottest during the entire vacation.

Hi Steve,
Good take off scene from Las Vegas. It looks that you had a good mood in the sin city. I guess you have won something big in the casinos there.
I like the big blue sky and I like the clear view of the airplane. Nice shot and nice notes.
Hey, Steve, I am still waiting for your D70 photos. You have been hiding them from us.

Nice panorama of Las Vegas, this very hot city in the desert.
I was many times there but have only some pictures from my own wedding... I amn't a gambler but like Las Vegas as very convenient starting point for trips to Southwest, good place for the rest during travelling and the best place for wedding...
Thanks for share. This picture is a pleasant memory for me.

Well I think your wide angle lens has really been a blessing to you. This scene is crisp and clear. You have the plane and the city below. That is all that is needed. the sky seems to be crystal clear too. Nice weather for shooting pics.

This not the usual shot from Las Vegas - there use to a lot more light and glamour.
A fine and different view which give us an idea of life away from the hectic centre - thanks Stephen a very well composed photo.

Intresting photo with good note. The sky has a very nice building. The buildings are a bit far away, but I like the mountains behind them and the airplane in the air is a nice add.

Hallo Stephen,
This picture reminds me that I should go to Schiphol (airport of Amsterdam) and try to make some pictures there just as good as this one.

Hi Stephen,
Well I think your wide angle lens has really been a blessing to you, it looks that you had a good mood in the sin city, I like the big blue sky and I like the clear view of the airplane, the dread lines on the foreground make you photo very attractive.

Hi Steve,
A combining view where I also find the skyline a bit small, but it illustrates the way how most visitors to LV arrive there. Off topic, but like Wes, I miss some D70 shots from you...
Have a nice week end,

Bonsoir Stephen,
Un avion c'est un peu un oiseau qui s'en va visiter un autre pays.
Las Vegas, l'enfer du jeu, j'espère que pour certains joueurs ils ont gardé leur ticket de retour (pour l'avion) ! ;-))
Bien fait.
Amitiés.

Stephen,
A very blue picture - great colour. Probably an unusual POV for Las Vegas, but this time of day maybe here is more action. The golden scrape is great from here.
Thanks,
Magnus

Bonjour Stephen,

The airport is the lifeline of this town, so in fact it is a highly appropriate photo! The photo also shows the wonderful mountains that surround Vegas and provide some remarkable outdoor recreation too.
From my little low budget Super8 room just off the strip, one afternoon when I was collapsed from overload, I watched the planes taking off and I swear, more than one per minute for hours on end! And when we went to leave, about 1500 people in the security clearance lineup. Outrageous, it was, but that is what Vegas is famous for, the most of everything.
