Photographer’s Note
Paul McCartney sang the story of a fool on a hill.
Hamlet caused the death of his family and friends when he started seeing a ghost on the walls of his castle, ultimately losing even his kingdom.
And though she's certainly not a princess of Denmark, I caught this young woman resting calmly in the middle of a room of the museum of modern and contemporary art, on the 5th level of the centre Georges Pompidou. Around her, paintings by Modigliani or Soutine adorned the walls.
Was she so tired after roaming around the city she had to take a short nap near a few art pieces (cf. my next to last post)?
Did she imagine herself lying under a sun lamp, that she put on her sunglasses?
Did she dream of being a model for the artists of the "French school" during the first decades of the 20th century, as famous as Kiki de Montparnasse (while she was posing nude for Foujita, he told her: oh! shat's fine! You, funny beauty spoto! I shought flea! and added, closer to her pubis: Wondelful, you hab no clabs!)?
Did she prefer to muse on a modern tale of a handsome prince charming taking her on his stallion (or in his big red sport car, who knows!) before rushing towards the sunset?
Was she...?
The mystery lingers on.
Unfortunately, shooting from the hip was still too high, here. I should have crouched, thus managing to put the bench and the foot of the wall behind at the same level. But I was so afraid to wake her up and startle her that I reacted very quickly. A little too quickly, obviously... ;-)
Paris, April 1st, 8 pm (7:59... and 57 seconds, to be honest), following Aleksei's new photographic suggestion and keeping with my ongoing series on modern and contemporary art in the heart of the city (previous - next)
Lens distortion correction, (very) slight crop

ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come When we have shuffled off this mortal coil Must give us pause: there's the respect That makes calamity of so long life
One of my favorite lines from the Bard.
I like her positioning because it almost appears that the art work on the wall is the stuff of which she dreams. I would suggest cropping severely on right and top because I hink it would emphasize your tittle. There is ome noise on the photo but I think it emphasizes the dreamy atmosphere of the photo.
Well seen.

I didn't read with attention your guidelines, in this already past "Fools Day", neither I will coment this work because is very well done for this moment!?!. But, the enquadrement is special a must, the quality is good and the moment also. So my thanks to your work and composition. It seems that is seeing my photo in a healing and dreaming place.
Thanks very much for this contribution, because I like this participation and way of view in this inviting hour.
Regards from Fernando and a wellcomed interesting member to TE.

Love the composition, with its receding repeated rectangular motifs, each with an interesting figure framed in it, the empty chair, the color and the soft light. Good photo.

Bonjour Dominique,
Amusante contribution, le sujet est parfaitement cadré dans ta photo, bien mis en valeur. Quant au reste de l'image, c'est un parfait exemple de composition symétrique et équilibré. Bien vu !

Good catch D. for this special 8pm theme. Sure the relaxed young lady represents the feeling many have this hour of the day - finally Friday and all...

Le cadrage choisi est excellent, et je trouve très belle cette composition d'intérieur.
Un grand sourire devant la situation, comme quoi le culture, c'est vraiment épuisant.
