In my latest trip to Australia I was part of the Portuguese team competing in the Rescue2006, a competition for lifesavers from all around the world; you can find more info on this event by following this link.

My main job was to photograph the team competitors and aid in our candidacy to host the WWS2007 conference in Portugal (which, by the way, we won).

Afterwards I spent one more week, with a friend of mine (the owner of the camera) during which we traveled all the way from Melbourne to Adelaide and back. This photo and this other photo are just some of the ones I took during the trip.

In this post you can see one of our guys jumping right in to a first training session... you can also check this other posting of more pool action...

Post-processing consisted of tilting + unsharp mask + 5% to shadows + cropping + framing; colors are as they were in the original.

Hope you like it and take some time to comment it.

Hi Rui.
I like this shot. The angle it is taken from and the clarity through the shot makes it very nice. The colors are nice and the lines leading us up through the shot create good depth.

Hey Rui,

I swim laps myself so I have bit of extra appreciation for this one. Love the gorgeous blue colour of the water here, and great use of the wide angle.

Hello Rui,
Great POV and sharpness in this shot. I like the way the swimmer's body is lined up with the line on the pool floor. The color of the water is wonderful. It is also interesting to get a glimpse of the other swimmer coming towards the one who is waiting to dive.

I did click a smiliat shot but with the subject under the water. The blue waters always attact.

Hey Rui, great perspective here and nice tight narrow crop. The combination of the vertical lines and the inclusion of the row of flags provide a nice "criss-cross" fi you will.

Hi Rui!
I like the composition.Eye leads somewhere on the end of the lines.Good show only part of swimmer.
It is good enough for this photo.Amazing moment for catch.Bravo! Regards!

Hello Rui,

Hello Rui! Very creative shot and crop here. Including only half of the swimmer makes this very interesting and unexpected. I also like all the parallel lines in the pool and how the swimmer is oriented with them. Colors and sharpness are very nice too!

Hi Rui

A good decisive moment shot with excellent lighting colour & contrast. Superb framing & pov. Tfs & obrigado.

This is definetly one of tour best shots. Very dinamic, it pulls you into the action...no doubt you could hang this one on a wall!

Great action and excelelnt timming, but I think that you could have better position and framing.I have some jump shots on : www.photo.net/photos/afshinazizi I will be happy if you visit them and tell me your opinion.
