Photographer’s Note
Being forced to spend almost six hours in Indira Ghandi International airport, the flight was delayed due to the storms in Europe, this photo taken of the first day of the trip spoke to me. If only I could fly..........
The Jama Masjid Mosque in Old Delhi, this would have been a normal day, had it not been for the festival of Eid. Outside the mosque the largest goat market you can imagine-----(photos will follow). But for now, a relaxed shot from within the courtyard.

(Back home safe and sound, after a sucessful trip, hope to add few new locations to the TE map and share a few images and memories, and of course catch up with you guys)

Hi Elaine,
Welcome back! Hope you've had a great trip. This is a great scene, the timing is perfect and I especially like those two talking in the foreground. And I think the depth is well managed, first with the two people in foreground, then birds and then the beautiful structure. TFS!
Best regards

Hello Elaine, welcome back and a belated happy new year to you and Keith. This is a fine shot to kick off the new series - the inner yard of the mosque provides an elegant setting, and the people and of course particularly the flying pigeons bring a lot of dynamics and vividness. I particularly like the two sitting and chatting folks in the foreground.

Hello Elaine, you have been on my mind and it is so nice to see you post again! And with such a beautiful shot! Those colours are really southern, equatorial, unlike the cool ones (if any) up here these days (now minus 29C and am down with the flu, in home captivity). I already feel better looking at this warm shot, the classical composition, and of course the many birds... lovely shot, happy you are back safe, and am looking forward to your new ones! Happy new year to you and Keith and the children, Elaine.

Excellent composition here Elaine, and good timing to capture the bomb burst of scattering pigeons.
The light is harsh, but I think the lack of shadows works well here. Maybe using a warm up filter or tweaking the white balance for a warmer result would have softened the cold quality of the light though.
Other than that, it's a very good shot. I like the inclusion of the couple chatting away in the foreground.
Good work.
Cheers,
Ben

Hi Elaine, nice to see you back, even though I missed the new year meeting in Agra ;D ...
I also spent quite some time in the goat market outside, I was evantually adopted as the official goat and camel photographer... the guys had me walking for miles in the mud just to take their pic with their favorite goat or camel... I now have prints to send and adresses written in Hindi, which look more like the name of a valley in deeper Rajasthan, more than a successful postal adress with a zipcode...
Looking at the date it was taken, I was there two days after.. me too, I wish I could fly back...and spend more time in the winding roads of Old Delhi.
I first thought before I opened it was taken at Fatehpur Sikri's main mosque, because I have quite similar shots from there...
Anyway, I will follow your photogaphic trip with great interest and look out for new locations.

Hi Elaine.....long time no see......TOO long :O) But now we are both back. Look forward to follow your uploads to see where you have been and done.
A nice one to start with. Really really sharp....did you start using tripod? Your chosen angle gives us a great view over the square to the colourful building. Interesting to see the different forms and shapes. You placed the 2 people very well in the lower part.
Hope you will find time soon to show us more.
:) Tina

Welcome back Elaine!
I'm glad that your was a successfull trip and I'm looking forward too follow it thru your images.
About this one I like the framing of the old Jama masjeed in Delhi with the flying pidgeon that add dynamism to the image.

Hi Elaine,
India... what a country I wish to see one day...
This place is the "St-Marco" piazza of India ;)
The mosque is a very good background, I like this red color...
Good contrast with the static people and the flying birds.

There is something about this image dear Elaine that really strikes me, but I can't point it out very well. I get a certain surrealist feel from the talking couple in the foreground set against the spectacle of flying pigeons and the figures walking behind them. Quit a wonderful shot you mastered here, with exceptional sharpness and a very well considered composition. I also find the man in a white dress leaning against the wall in the back very crucial in this shot; his presence intrigues me. I get the feeling he's overlooking the whole scene somehow. A great work! Sabine
