En algunas zonas de la costa de Cochin se ven unas extrañas estructuras, unas especies de grandes arañas que se alzan sobre el mar para descender y sumergirse en él y así extraer uno de los recursos alimenticios de esta región de Kerala. Son las llamadas REDES CHINAS.
Con esta imagen en tonos sepia intento darle un aspecto a foto antigua a la composición y mostrar uno de los momentos en que los pescadores esperan pacientes el momento idóneo para bajar las redes, que generalmente es al atardecer.

Hola Francisco,

Creo que el tono sepia le va que ni pintado a esta foto, que evoca tiempos antiguos (aunque la foto sea actual, la técnica seguro que tiene años...) y culturas muy tradicionales. Me gusta la geometría de las líneas y las texturas que proporcionan las redes... Muy bello el conjunto!

Muy extraño y primitivo, todavía debe ser eficiente en la pesca. Me gusta los tonos sepia, clásico tono de las fotos antiguas. Muy buena composición.

Hi Francisco,

I’m always rather critical about the use of B&W or sepia, but here it is an excellent choice. For some reason, I can’t explain, the use of sepia here makes it a real Chinese image.

Very nice and interesting shot. And what for a strange fishing apparatus! I never have seen something like this. I wonder how it works. Unfortunately I don´t understand Spanish and therefore I can not read your note. :-(
and a small cirtique: I think, that your photo could be a bit brighter.

me gusta la geometría de la fotografía con esas anticuadas redes.Los tonos sepia dan ese aire antiguo que tu dices, consiguiendo que una fotografía actual parezca de años atrás.
Excelente composición. Imagen muy bien trabajada.

Es cierto lo que dicen del tono sepia, la da la sensación de antiguedad a esta técnica pesquera, muy buena elección.

Un tema muy impresionante, lo cual has capturado en la mejor manera posible. Una composicion impecable y una conversion a b&n perfecta. Solo creo que le falta un poquito de contraste, pero esto es solo gusto personal. Un gran trabajo, amigo! Felicidades!

Lo aprovechaste muy bien el pintoresco de la estructura de las redes para hacer una compo visualmente muy fuerte. La presencia de los pescadores ayuda a crear una cierta atmósfera nostálgica y algo soñadora, que es muy bien reforzada por la sepia.

Curiosa estructura para esta, supongo que bastante primitiva, forma de pesca. Me gusta la elección del sepia que contribuye a darle intemporalidad a esa actividad de por si tan antigua.

I guessed this was Cochin as soon as I saw the thumbnail, Francisco. These nets have become a symbol of the city. I will be there myself later this month so hope to add a similar image to my collection. The sepia treatment makes this feel like it was taken 50 years ago, and there is nothing in the image that would disprove it if you had claimed that (not sure when they started making golf caps though!). I would have cloned out the little bit of the adjacent net halfway up the right hand side. Cheers . . . David

love this shot and your presentation. the sepia rendering is 'right on' in this case shooting us back at least a hundred years. and you're right - the scene would have looked the same... in an old travel magazine. despite having all those busy details you have managed to balance the frame well compositionally. my compliments!

nice the view of this scene with the Chinese net to be spread in this Sepia environment.Maybe wish for a bit more headroom over the top of the woods .. but still .. wonderful image ..
