I have been out here fishing a few times but have never caught any thing for hours. So I wonder what attracts people to fishing. Perhaps it’s the anticipation of catching something. For me when by myself, it’s the feeling of solitude I enjoyed. When with friends, it was the conversations and time spent together. It was never really about catching fish.

I try to get this image with as much water in the foreground as possible. I was on a moving boat, I couldn’t really get a good DoF, but I like how it turned out with the water a little out of focus and silk like quality yet the fisherman at the end of the dock still fairly sharp.

hello Way,
the texture of the water is indeed great, reminds me of a silk shawl, I like it a lot. and I agree with the decision to "fill" the frame with the water as much as possible, it certainly goes well with the feeling of calm and relaxed mood you mention in your note. superb clarity and details too, excellent shot.

regards,
Kristine

beautiful tones and interesting silhouettes, fine exposure and good idea to include so much water in the frame, the little waves are very good looking
as Leo says, it can be an escape from family too
regards
jo

Hi Way,

That foreground is absolutely great. The blue goes perfectly with the pinkish sky but it is those waves in the water that make this image for me. The silhouetted fishermen offer a nice story to to this somewhat minimalistic scene.

Cheers!

Hi Way,
So calm, so serene, so peaceful. I love that dark water in front with the calm waves. Such a great contrast with the much softer part on top. Those people make nice focal points, not at the least created by your composition.
I like this, a well thought image...very good.
Regards, Henk

Attractive seascape,Well combination of sea color and light in the sky,Velvety pattern of wave had made an interesting leading to subject,Simple but attractive composition.Good work,TFS.

Hello Way!
A nice picture... the texture of the water is so real - although a bit out of focus - I feel I can almost touch it and feel it! The color of the sky and its reflection on the water is also very very beautiful! Finally, we have the silhouette of the fishermen and the rocky tiny peninsula! An interesting and beautiful image!
TFS - Congratulations!
Best regards,
Neyvan

Hello Way,
As you describe it very well in our note, the silk effect on the water is really good. I like this a lot.
I also like the colour of the water, combined with the pastel pink tone of the sky.
Well done!
Regards,
Marianne

Hi Way,
Great light and beautiful colours; I like your composition and the way you minimalized the fishermen.
Cheers
Marc

Hi,
great mood you've captured here. The soft tones and the slightly out of focus sea work really well, like the fishermen in the background do. Well thought of and done!

Hello Way,
Are you still wondering what is attracting people in this place? It may be the magnificent light you have caught here...
I love the dof management with the foreground a little blurred but the fishermen in the distance very neat.
Superb mood and fantastic colors, this is a great shot.
Have a nice day.
Best regards, Christian

Hi Way, I too am a fisherman, so I appreciate this shot a lot! Like you it's not all about catching fish, far from it in fact, although that is sometimes a bonus! It's the nature, the relaxation, the nice fresh air and the peaceful feeling of being close to water, especially it's mesmerising sound as it flows past or laps up against a shoreline. But like your title says, it is most certainly the anticipation, the waiting game, the wondering whether there is anything out there in the depths, circling the bait, out of sight... something big, a Leviathan of the deep perhaps??!

But back to your shot! It's very beautiful with fantastic colours. A lovely composition with the silhouettes of the fisher people on the rocky outcrop set amongst the fading sky. That little boat really adds to the vastness of the ocean in the top left, and the slightly oof shimmering blurry water is quite surreal. A great shot indeed! Very enjoyable to see.

All the best, Casper

Hello Way!
Very nice framing, with a good large portion to the water. The colours are beautiful. I love fishing so I am curious about what they are catching there. Nice photo!
Regards,
Zeca

Fantastic photo, Way, and I totally like the idea of water, lots of water, and just the fishermen and the little sailing boat way back there as your side element. I am not into fishing but I tried it once and I was completely relieved that I had nothing hanging on my fishing rod. I guess it is the hunter in us, or the remainings of it, that people like fishing and many say it is relaxing. So far my small opinion about fishing ...

And to your question where I stand with my desert pictures: the pc is still not where it should be and it gets built out with new memory space and as one problem leads to another (thank you Mr. Gates ... enjoy your pension plan) I guess it takes some further days before I can actually show something decent that comes freshly from the desert. But I have some stuff on my memory stick, I might show something old ... how exciting :)))))))) This pc stuff drives me by my side but we might be getting there ... Thanks for asking and for your support ... Barbara.

Hi Way,
man what should I say? You once again did a great job on this one, the water looks so great, a bit blurred and it leads the eye towards the fishers. Wonderful atmosphere, it looks really peaceful. Thanks for sharing this one!

Take care
Mark

Ciao Way,
I think that this small out of focus magnificently opposes with the silhouette of the fishermen that is perfectly clear instead. The colors are delicate and the scene is very pleasant. I like it.
Ciao
Paolo.

Hello Way,
another wonderful shot here! You've done a great job composing it and leaving room for the beautiful water in the fg. The gradient of the sky perfectly reflected on the water is truly eye-catching, with the rocks and the fishermans so well placed off center. Beautiful, simply beautiful!
Thank you and regards,

Igor

Hi way my friend,
this is also a very good capture.
Man great depth very good colours and with the fisherman sillouhets it looks even better.
Very well done
I like this a lot.
Toba

hello Way,
The silky quality of the water is almost mesmerizing in how it catches the light. The silhouetted fisherman serve to really heighten interest.
Gorgeous colours.
Regards, Joni.

Way,
The intensely coloured water is the main feature here; luxurious ripples of deep blue. You make a composition with that little promenade of fisherman - like hook by which we might enter the image, ground it in our common understanding of the world.
Super.

colin
