| A 'gift of friendship' from the Soviet Union, Warsaw's most prominent landmark dominates the city centre like a socialist-realist rocket ship. Built between 1952 and 1955 and officialy christened the Palace of Culture and Science, it was then Europe's tallest building outside Moscow and is still the tallest in Poland. |
