Photographer’s Note
Railway stations in India are 'home' to many homeless people. One can notice many people on platforms, who seem to be going nowhere...
These people are those unfortunate souls who are rejected by their families and society, and don't have a shelter. In absence of sufficient old age homes, they find solace at railway platforms...
Most of them are very old and often sick.Incapable of earning to feed themselves, they rely on begging for their very existence.
These people are insignificant and nonexistent for others. Nobody knows from where they emerge, and where they vanish one day. And nobody cares to know either!
Life keeps running fast on tracks...
She was one such untold, unknown story...

Hello Darpan,
grand shot, very expressive, so is the note to it.
I guess the photo speaks for itself very eloquently. Even though it was taken from a moving train, it's a great photo, imho. And the composition is good. The colour gamma seems a bit too reddish to me, but it's my opinion, though..

Life is difficult and merciless for some people in most of the places in the world.
This shot is excellent. One of the most beautiful photos I have seen recently. I am surprised that you took it from the moving train. I love it so much. Congratulations.

Hi Darpan!!
Very very expressive daily life picture and a very nice note to describe it. Will be much more expressive if you crop the image and show the face only.
Thanks,
Sunandan.

Hello Darpan, superb shot and despite the difficulty of capturing while moving it is sharp too. Very expressive and powerful portrait, great composition. Your note is very nice too. Thanks for sharing.
Best regards,
Kostas.

Hello Darpan,
You have 5 postings only and I think you have done well with shots like this, with good colours and expressions of the subject. What I dont understand is how you could capture at such a low POV from a moving train, unless you are sitting on the floor and the doors of the train is left open while moving. The shot suffers a bit from the noise due to high ISO, presumably needed to get a good shutter speed.
Your note is very moving to read.

Hello Darpan
A good tribute for those people for have been forgotten or simply ignored especially when they are old, and being a woman doesn't help!
Here you made a good framing letting space in front of the elder lady. Her expression tells a lot! I think the reddish effect on the face of the woman is because you've increased a bit much the saturation. Nonetheless it's a touching image and thanks for your note.
Cheers

The note is so very true.
Railyway stations in India definitely provide very interesting visuals. This is a very well captured snap.
I loved the contrast in color, the background color fading from rusty green to pale whiteish on the station floor with the lady brightly poised in a faded red-yellow polka dotted saree.
Did you reduce the file size a lot, it seems to have a little pixelation on the edges of the arm holding the beedi.
Best wishes,
Paromita

Hello Darpan
The compo. is excellent, especially when you'd taken this shot from a train. Like the beedi smoke a lot...But some things bother me a bit...what appears to me as oversharpening & colour noise. Did this picture require so much sharpening? You would know better of course...The reason for colour noise could be the effect of sharpening on PS applied namely shadow/highlight & saturation. But my green smiley for the excellent compo...well done there.

Hi Darpan,
Depiction that reduced the highlight tone is interesting, a hard usm applied on this lady also makes an interesting expression.
Have a nice weekend, Hisashi
