Photographer’s Note
Taken in the neighborhoods above the hills in the city of Salt in North Jordan. Here, people are very hospitable, will invite you to their home for tea, coffe, food and even whisky (that story will come later). When looking at these neighborhoods one could easily mistake them for favelas and even this kid and his football reminds me of the image I have of Brasil.

Very right, Daniel. I wouldn´t realize this is not the outskirts of any capital in Brasil if it weren´t your title and note.
Very well seen and framed. Even in a restricted pov you offer us a lot of information. Even the bars in the window - from where another boy looks at you, probably curious to be with you and show his football skills - looks like ours. Unfortunately not only in favelas...

Daniel: I didn't know this was your until after reading the note - a great note. I immediately got your drift from the thumbnail and title - I'd be interested in your detailed notes to follow. I think Jordan would be a great introduction for a green-horn (?). Nice composition, expressive story in the frame, and very, very, relevant background - in short, all the ingredients for a successful portrait. Complete green to follow. best, c

His football does not look that good. May be he was going to fix it!!!
The view is fantastic and shows a quite hilly and stony area. I like the POV and the soft natural colours. The boy also has a good expression. Well done.

Hey Daniel,
How are things mate?
Cool shot showing both the great urban landscape as well as a personal potrait. His eyes looking away from the camera distract me a little bit, but apart from that it looks good.

Daniel- Gr8 portrait. Yes, with the boy with football held firmly in his hand and such randomly grown cityscape in behind- any one can realize it to be Brazil unless guided by ur well-written note. Gr8 work...

It does have somewhat the look of a Rio favela, except it's a lot more dry. Hopefully it is also safer! I like the way you show both the boy and an overview of the place where he lives. He looks like he's anxious to get back to playing, which is only natural. Regards, Ken.

Salut Daniel,
Ta comparaison avec les favelas est logique. Dire que nos enfants ne réalisent pas à quel point ils sont nantis! Celui-ci s'accroche à son vieux ballon crevé...

Haven't yet been to favelas, but seen them in movies, this place and the kid with a football come together to give that "favela" impression indeed. But you nicely spotted the MiddleEastern hospitality, i wouldn't expect to be invited for whiskey in Brasil :))
The focus on the boy, increases the effect of those stairy slopes. The composition is humble, but spotless. Let's see now the "whisky story" :))
Best,
Deniz

Like the way you place your people against the background..
Some smartie once said:
'You no worry about the front people, man...
You worry about the background - the foreground people will compose themselves' !
There is certain logic in this saying - I think

Amicalement, Eric.
