Photographer’s Note

With the D700 I went again to places where the light was kind of problematic and increased willingly the ISO settings in order to check how the camera behaved in this dark place and find out about noise levels. I had a similar pictyre posted some time ago, and I must admit that I like the challenge and the use of a very wide angle in this case.

Nice compo,nice color eventhough due the difficult light condition.The sharpness is ok as well,there´s only one thing I dislike,the picture is a bit tillt to the right and I think,You as a pro are agree with me.

So, there is no noise reduction here and this is the actual result?! I cannot tell you how jealous I am. This is just my kind of photo and with my light-weight D50 I always end up with that dreadful noise. I'm thinking of getting D300 or switching to Canon altogether, which means changing all my equipment as well. Anyway, apart from the noise-free quality, the shot is also great in terms of compo, light, sharpness and depth. I like it a lot. Congrats.

Good Morning Izzet. I am always interested in the capabilities of the full size sensor DSLR in lighting situations like this. I know that if I were shooting with my 1.6x crop factor sensor 400 Xti the stones in the hallway would be much darker than what I see in this posting. I am wondering if you had to lighten the dark section? If that window is the only source of light other than that lamp I cannot see how any camera could offset the range of lighting here by achieving an exposure which is akin to how the naked eye. Just curious about your impressions on this factor. Its a very nice shot to say the least. Thanks for sharing!

it is a powerful shot! the wide angle, and the light from far away, and the moving man! it is a path to our brightest destination. the 2.8D lens absorbs enough light and makes the texture of the floor, the wall are very detail. thanks for sharing!

Hello Izzet,
I love the final result of this composition. The DOF makes it feel as though the walls will slowly close in, and the man strides towards the window without blocking its light. All of the stones are lovely. Good job with your experiment!

Woaaaaaaaaaahhhhh. The quality of the photo, the wonderful details and the superb light leave me speechless. The use of the wide angle, the composition with the corners and the silouette of the man walking, the stones on the floor are absolutely superb...
