| Introducción: | [Updated 5 August 2008] I've been here close to a year now, so it's time for a new intro. First thing I have to say is how incredibly addictive this site can get (the main reason why I haven't joined TL or TN is that I spend too much time here already!). The collection of people here who love photography and are willing, even eager, to share their enthusiasm is phenomenal. You have helped me to become much more aware of the art as well as the science of photography. I've learned a lot here so far, and intend to keep on doing so. Hopefully I've also been to add a little to the knowledge base here. On the basic intro stuff: I've spent most of my career as a computer programmer; then my wife Jean and I joined the Peace Corps in Kenya (2005-06), and that kind of obsoleted me from the field (yes, it moves that fast), so now I'm concentrating on writing, travel, history studies - and photography. I shot film (B&W, color slides, and later color print) for maybe 30 years, finally switching to digital in 2004 when the cost of color printing just got out of hand. Also, with Photoshop, I can do all of my own editing without having to explain to a (very expensive) color lab what I want to see - and have them get it wrong half the time.
