Welcome to TE Eileen, Interesting first photo that you have shared with us. There is a really profound contrast between the snow and the reg bridge. You made good use of it as your foreground element into this scene. PS: Is the photo from Gifu Prefecture or City. I ask as I lived a short train ride away from Gifu City, and spent some time there taking photos. All the best, Brendon

August in Kyoto, wow (can we say barn burning hot!), which is evident from this parasol armed lady protecting herself. You have captured this shot quite well. Vibrant colours throughout, nice shadows cascading from the bright red lanterns across the stairs with a great subject. Well done Brendon

No worries, number 4 is the unlucky or bad number when it comes to Japanese superstitions. But I must say your timing is rather spot on. The harried nature that is Shinjuku Station (with some 2,000,000 passer-by's each day) is well contrasted in the photo by the relaxed couple enjoying one anothers company. I like how you captured the sequence. Not sure what you used, but I may have chosen a different aperture/shutter speed combo to emphasize the moving traffic. Brendon

Hey Alex, I really like how you set this shot up. The purple hued void that is the sky that protrudes up and out of the station on the diagonal is different. The building on the left has the same conforming angle to that of the right with the scaffolding which makes the diverging vantage point out. Your photo is a nice contrast to a typical sunset scene or even the usual scene found at Kyoto Station (being a mass of structural steel). That nice shade of purple really blends itself well into the buildings, well done Brendon

Spectacular! The colours are absolutely out of this world and provide the viewer with a wonderful palette to draw from. The composition is simple, artistic and poignant - Did I say marvelous! Kudos to capturing this excellent nature scene. Brendon

Hello there David, The great colour saturation is what first drew me to this shot, nice sky blue, clay/stone coloured architecture with the green tree and then WHAM! the black cloaked people adding that extra bit of interest. Very well done! Your note is very imformative - thanks Brendon

Looks like a full house for this event. How fortunate you were to get a ticket. I tried and didnt have the luck. Mind you the seats price was steep (but worth it I'm sure). For this shot, I like how you encompassed the audience, the sumo floor and the suspended ceiling all in one shot. It was a better choice then zooming in and getting a granulated pic from your digital point and shoot. I look forward to your shots next year! TFS Brendon

Well done Amos The symmetry works realy well here as the escalators come off the sides of the frame and form into the x in the middle. Great idea. Have you thought about this shot in a desaturated format to avoid the light cast back in the reflections. TFS Brendon

Hello Asa, One couldnt imagine the roar of that beauty soaring, or for that matter searing overhead. Very impressive! You have incorporated many components to make this scene work out really well. The beach going bystanders who seem somewhat unfazed by the whole ordeal (mind you the two guys in the forefront I would like to have seen just a touch more of them in the picture). Quite impressive, TFS this modern marvel of lunacy! Brendon

I like your take on this rustic old barn. The low angle up through the tall grass was a good choice. The grasses provide a great foreground element luring the viewer into the main subject/focal point in the middle of the photo. Well done with the sepia tones - on my screen here, the sky comes across with an ever so slight purple/red haze. None the less, Well done! Brendon
