It's hard to believe that the largest Vietnamese music entertainment incorporation bypassed their own advisors/lawyers to test US copyright law… In USA, "nobody is above the law", maybe Thuy-Nga could afford to make its own exception? 13 months ago, Viet Weekly made a similar attempt against Photographer Huynh Tuan Kiet and here is the result for everyone to study before trying to violate: *Copyright Infringers Beware Page 1 of 4 Page 2 of 4 Page 3 of 4 Page 4 of 4 Payment Hopefully the above lesson shed some light to both the violator and victim. I regret that I cannot join you in last trip due to my new-born baby. I missed the chance to learn from true life whatever I failed to find from family or school. Should you or Mr Quan Vu have another charitable plan within one-month duration, you can count on me. Best regards, Ngoc-Son Nguyen

A few months ago Mr. Thanh gave me a 35mm negative since he knew I had a home-made darkroom: "This was original shot back in ‘1972 Mua He Do Lua’”. In stead of accepting the honor to make an enlargement for him, I was backing out because we have a co-worker who is an expert in darkroom technique. So Mr Thanh came to Mac for help. After a month of waiting, Mac finally ‘recovered’ on paper what thought to be lost for three decades and half. The moment Mr Thanh shown me this image, which is actually older than me, I felt like I was there as he made the shot. To younger generation like me, the today post gave me two paths of thinking: - How the older generations have fought their war. - What can we do to reconcile after the war. In war and in peace, the photographer always took the ‘up front’ position. It seems to me to ‘battle for peace’ needs longer time than to ‘fight a war’. 31 years after having peace, both sides of the war still want to destroy the other side.
