I've been here long enough to see that this idea was, let's say, 'inspired' by another member :) But no matter, that's how we all learn - right? And what's more important is that you have taken the concept and made it work for you.

Do you still shoot with the Leica, or have you gone 'all digital' on us? Thanks as always for providing much needed highlights here.

Hi Dan,

I'm not sure how easy this will be to take, but the quality of your composition is much better than the quality of your equipment. I'm struggling to find any sharp part of this image - the flat metal has some detail but there is a lot of sharpness fall off in the top right and lower left hand corners (which I wouldn't normally expect at that focal length) and the cabling is particularly flat. I think it may be a good time to upgrade to better glass my friend.

If I was a cynic I'd say that the shot says something about the education level of the protester, but unfortunately I'm not a cynic ;)

I'd personally avoid the lens flare. It also seems that the color balance is off, but could probably be corrected in post.

Great composition - especially the contrast between clouds and sharp balloons. I can't decide whether I'd prefer not to see any detail in the surfaces of the balloons - that would maybe make it even stronger.

Probably the best (only?) HDR shot I've seen Jack. Is there a reason why you didn't finish the processing though and correct the converging verticals?

Your composition shows a really good eye Paulo. I think this shot conveys exactly what you would want it to - the ability to walk in and down the steps into the alley. The highlights to the left make me think that lighting conditions probably weren't perfect, but most of the shot has good exposure. It looks like a very tricky location to get a overall good exposure.

That's a completely different viewpoint from anything I had envisaged when I was there Ken. Nice to see that different people with different viewpoints can achieve refreshingly great results. I think that the blue cast surprises me somewhat, but you may well have been there earlier in the morning than me.

Great action shot, the crispness and the colors of the cyclist against the background were especially well captured. Nicely done!

Always good to try a non-cliched composition ;) My own feeling with this one is that the foreground is a little too dominant - to the point of being distracting from your main subject. With a complex foreground like that I would look for options for simplification - one simple idea would be to add some kind of graduated mask to darken the foreground slightly.

The sky color is great, but I keep being distracted by the foreground. The good thing is if you live around here you can easily go back and experiment when the light is right.
