To linask: Colours

Hi Linas,

Thanks for the feedback. I couldn't quite get the colour balance right on this shot. Out of the camera the water in the reflecting pool was overly green and I tried to correct that, but...

Hi Shelly,

Many thanks for your feedback and great compliments, I really do appreciate it! I enjoyed taking this series of photos throughout the Snowdonia region and it's nice to know that other...

To LamCam: Colour Cast

Hi Maggie,

Thanks for your feedback, it's nice to get some constructive suggestions! I felt this was lacking some impact too, and couldn't quite put my finger on it.

I've submitted a workshop...

To Pablo25: Not a Grad

Hi Pawel,

Thanks for the feedback! It wasn't actually a grad filter, just a 3 Stop Grey ND to reduce the overall amount of light coming into the lens. It probably didn't need the full 3 stops, but...

To Dpbours: ISO

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for your comments. I agree totally about trying to get the ISO down and using a prime aperture, but in the test shots I tried I couldn't quite get the stars to come out given the...

To Keitht: Reflections

Hi Keith,

I think the reflections in the windows and on the table and chairs are probably my favourite part of this shot, and you are right, they do add some needed brightness to the side.

I...

To rgarrigus: Multi Exposures

Hey Bob,

Yeah, I've been meaning to try it out for a while too and everytime it's been a clear night lately it's been quite windy which I thought might effect the shots too much given the length...

To luisafonso: Over Exposed

Hi Luis,

I agree with you on the overexposure of the water, I might try reprocessing this one and see if I can recover a bit of the detail there.

Thanks for your feedback!

Cheers
Simon

Re: To biglad: the masts

Hi sevd,

No problem, the basis of the shot was there, I think the sharpening was the key to bringing it out a bit more. I used a programme called Gimp, it's an...

To Waylim: Two Exposures?

Hey Way,

I should have been a bit more honest in the note, this is actually a HDR combination of three different exposures, which is probably causing the effect you've spotted.

Cheers for the...

Hey Graeme,

Yeah - don't know what that guy is on, he's commented on my last few shots and I've just ignored them.

I've tried whay you and Bob suggested and uploaded a workshop, let me know...

To rgarrigus: HDR

Hey Bob,

Yeah I knew :-)

You are right about the hot-spot on the right hand side, I've submitted a workshop doing what you suggested. Let me know what you think, I can't decide which I prefer...

To rgarrigus: Foreground

Hey Bob,

I've submitted a workshop where I've tried to bring out the foreground rock a bit. I've left the bare trees as darker as I think that looks better, but I'd be interested to see what you...

Hey Bob,

I thought you'd prefer this one, I know you're a sucker for a good rock :-)

I think I agree with you in this case, I'm not really uploading them in any particular order, but this one...

To mmohan: Sunset Mode

Hi Manoj,

Thanks for the feedback. You may be right about the foreground, it looks ok on my monitor but I haven't calibrated it using anything clever.

I've used sunset mode in the past, but I...

To rgarrigus: Workshop

Hey Bob,

Thanks for the workshop, I wouldn't have though of overexposing the sky to that extent, it gives an interesting effect. In this case, I quite like having some of the clouds there though...

To rgarrigus: HDR

Hey Bob,

You are right, this was HDR. I was quite disappointed with how this series came out to be honest, I couldn't quite seem to get the sharpness and clarity on the Parliament buildings that I...

To geester: Over Exposed

Hi Graeme,

Thanks for the feedback as ever! I knew it was overexposed in the sky, I couldn't decide whether I like it or not, but decided it added a bit of contrast and made the library stand out...

To SMT2: Horizon

I meant to straighten the horizon when I was post-processing this one, but I forgot. I straightened it on my local copy and it does make it look better.

I know what you mean about the dull sky...

I wouldn't go as far as saying I know what I'm talking about!! I've only been doing this for a few months now, I got my first DSLR last September and I've been playing around with it since then. I...

To rgarrigus: Foreground

Hey Bob,

I know what you mean about the foreground interest. I took a portrait version of this that included more of the grass in the foreground, but overall I preferred this version. Hadn't...

To geester: Grasses

Hi Graeme,

Thanks for the feedback. I know what you mean about the grasses, and I did try and bring them out a bit. Once I had though I preferred the silhouette so I reverted back again.

Cheers...

To geester: ISO

Hey Graeme,

Cheers for the feedback. I rarely go above 400 on the ISO (well so far), so not sure I need anything too immense! :-)

I couldn't decide why I liked the middle-placed tree either,...

To rgarrigus: Thanks!

Hey Bob,

Cheers for the feedback, I did have the polarizer on, but it was turned right down to nothing as I preferred the look of it through the viewfinder. In hindsight, probably should have...
