Default Screen Calibration

hi all,
Im having problems with the calibration of my laptop screen and thereby my photos. When I view my shots on other computers (work) I see much brighter images, even to the extent that I find I've taken the contrast up too far and haven't seen this on my laptop before I've uploaded the shot.
I have tried adjusting the calibration and tweaking the graphics card settings but so far am having little success.
Any ideas welcomed.

I switched from desktop to laptop a few weeks ago, and I've been experiencing the same problem. Kind of low brightness, or a feeling of some partial desaturation in the monitor. Of course if I apply contrast, brigthness or desaturation to get a satisfactory result, then it might be too much when seen in other monitors. If you have a solution to this problem, please let us know.

I had a similar problem. Noticed that the laptop screen settings defaulted to whatever was specified in the power management mode selected on switch on, so changed whether on battery or mains etc. As well as that the quality of the screen must have an effect as well. Haven't got around to trying the Spyder on it yet though.
