Great mporterf 2009-12-09 8:23

Lovely detail in this cactus! I am glad you were able to get this and the sky as well, since in one of the others you posted the sky was washed out. Well done.

The sky "zones out" because it has a natural gradient of shade which is more evident as the sun rises and sets. When the sun is high noon, you will notice the sky is most evenly colored. You can read more about it here.

Default To mporterf: prickly pear cactus

Thanks for your help. Your explanation was great. I looked at the reference you pointed me too but it was too complex for me to understand. I'm trying to figure out lighting to see if I can improve the way I capture images, especially the sky.
