Great photoray 2012-09-03 20:14

Howdy SierraKaren,

Fine early morning red glow on the majestic Sierras, and shadows offsetting the scene.
One of my favorite mountain areas, especially in October when the mountains, rivers, lakes and meadows turn into a riot of fall colors.

Did you camp nearby, or make the drive from Bishop?

Keep up the fun Eastern Sierra journey and photo views,

Default To photoray: thanks for critique

Howdy Ray, I have not been to this area in the fall but would like to someday.
I camped at Four Jeffreys campground because it is so close to South Lake. This view of the mountains is from that campground.
Best wishes,

Default Sierra etc...

Howdy SierraKaren,

A few years back, I was working on Campground photography and travel articles. I selected Four Jefferies as one of my favorite base camps for exploring the Bishop Creek high country. But my goals and plans changed, and I am working more on what is there, instead of campgrounds. There are plenty of articles and internet info on lodging and campgrounds, anyway.

I would highly recommend Convict Lake on your next sojourn. It is located by road, off Hwy 395 between June Lake and Mammoth Lakes. You may walk around the Lake and be blown away by the scenery. And for hiking, it is hard to beat the Rock Creek Trail out of Tom's Place.

I have not made it to Treasure Lakes. I know Galen Rowell was a strong hiker and would traversed all of the Sierra high country.

Thank you for the kind comments and interest,
Take care and enjoy life,
Ray Anderson
