Great macjake 2017-08-01 4:39

Hi Gert
its so strange to see one of your photos have so few pts, this one has only 16, now it has 18 :)

reading your note, I wonder what this area looks like now. has it developed any buildings or businesses? I doubt it.

however I do see a building on the left, I wonder what it was.

its so interesting seeing these shots from pakistan and similar countries - they're often beautiful landscapes, just like this, but we don't see them posted for obvious reasons.

You certainly had an interesting career taking you to off the track places. sweet shot here.

I replied to your critique, and I've added a lot of more info to my note about the Downtown East Side. I would appreciate it if you could go back and read it :)
its quite interesting the stats I found

Default To macjake: points

Hi Craig, thanks for the points. This was posted long ago when I was fairly new to the site and didn't have a lot of "fans" or "friends". As you know, getting any response for a photo is mainly a matter of being known to a lot of members.

I read your extended note. Those figures sound even worse than in most Swedish major city suburbs. But even then I guess it's a lot worse in the US. (Everything is worse there, including political leadership - if there is any.)

Default Vancouver

hi Gert
i know what you mean in terms of its worse in the US, however, I have to diagree on one point regarding that.

the US has a HUGE population, Canada as a whole, and Vancouver is alot less populated.

I just checked the stats, the 2016 census for Vancouver is 630,000.
thats very small compared to Manhattan, Los Angeles, Miami etc....which would be in the Millions and Millions. that makes the deaths that much more potent and impactful, just goes to show how bad that down town east side really is.

Governments have tried and tried and tried again to make the area better, but not matter what gets thrown at it, it only gets worse. what a shame.
thanks again
