Great marula 2006-04-16 21:03

It looks like "Cercis siliquastrum" also called Judas-tree or European Redbud. They are very common in & around ancient Olympia, and fill that site with pink clouds every April. You are right, your photo does look like a painting.

Both. I've visited Greece several times & hope to many more times. I also love plants and have one of these Redbud trees in my garden. The best ones I've ever seen were at Ancient Olympia in April (1985?) when they were in full bloom all over the archeological site. Beautiful!
