This particular shot is more contrasted, I delibrately left the faces obscurred and the blacks very deep...I wanted a sense of drama. I also used a #4 filter when printing, so this gave the print a harder contrast as well.

#4 filter is a contrast filter used during the printing process. It's placed between the light source and the negative in the enlarger. The filter regulates the what type of light (and how much) passes through to the paper. This has the effect of enhancing or reducing the highlight areas...hence greater or less contrast. The higher the number, up to 5 I believe, the higher the contrast.
