Adorable kid, how could one resist from buying something from him? However by the third time you've bought something from a cute kid, you'd avoid them, because you don’t have the heart to say no. You just don’t want to buy anymore postcards. Good catch on the genially sweet smile. I know sometime you just don’t have enough time to think of all scenarios before clicking, and you know that one moment is less likely to present itself again. It won’t be the same anyway even if you can arrange it. However this problem can be fixed digitally. It won’t be perfect but it definitely can be improve. In Photoshop, try to lighten just the shadow, but not the whole image, and sharpen it a little, maybe a little contrast not much because you’ll loose some details. I did a workshop take a look this may have fix your other not so perfect photos. I hope this is helpful
Otherwise, it’s very well photographed. Congrats

Thanks Waylim,
I tried bringing up the fill light in Lightroom, but it just didn't look as natural. What I really needed was an assistant with a bounce card for fill! Or a bit of fill flash, didn't have my SB600 with me. You're right about the sharpening - it could use a little. I'll try a few more things and see what I can do with it. He needs a little light in his eyes... This photo was posted almost as it came out of the camera - just a very slight crop. Trev |
