Hello to everybody!
there is a photo which was posted by a TE member ("everhope") today: http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/photo1008559.htm. This photo was stolen from the gallery of another TE member - it is one of his much earlier posts. Here is the original: http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/photo636973.htm. Does it mean that this "everhope" posts NOT his own photos every time? every day? --- Moderator Thank you very much for report this situation. We will handle following problem soon as possible, there is no excuse for such behaviour. I hope everhope receive a temporary ban, but we must wait for Administrator decision. Alex |

They are the same photo for sure - did Hope misunderstand something fundamental here or is something a little more onerous going on!?
Did you write to her? |

I have no idea what this Hope understands... Perhaps she thought that it was OK to use someone else's photo (photos?) just because the photo was posted long ago and may still remain unnoticed! I wonder how many more stolen photos are in Hope's gallery?
This Hope neither ever replies to critiques nor writes critiques. No chance to contact this person. I have reported the problem to the TE administration via the option on the webpage. I don't know what they are going to do about it... |

If it is a stolen photo and they can see the prove, I'm sure they will remove it and ban the member. But maybe it can take some days, because of the Christmas holidays ?
Whatever will be said or written, I do never have simpathy for photo-theft. On the other hand, in the past, I have seen the interference of a moderator who said that such things do not belong in the forum, we'll have to "report" the problem with the "report" button. |

That's what I did: used the "Report Problem" button and explained the situation. I hope they will do something about it. Of course it may take some time! holidays, holidays....!
I just decided to post a message about this on the forum as well for TE members to know about it. Merry Christmas, anyway !! :) |

I thought you did that, Fanni, but please be carefull : I know about members bringing such topics into the forum, and they were "warned" not to use the forum for it.
I can understand your feelings and reaction very good, I have a good feeling about the removal of the photo... in a while. Merry Christmas to you too. |

Look what I found using tineye.com:
http://www.trekearth.com/viewphotos.php?l=3&p=1003698 http://www.mccullagh.org/db9/10d-8/stockholm-skyline-4.jpg http://www.trekearth.com/viewphotos.php?l=3&p=985672 http://www.vietlyso.com/forums/showthread.php?p=114108 http://www.respoint.se/itp/event/eif/content/Image/Stockholm.jpg http://www.trekearth.com/viewphotos.php?l=3&p=938733 http://www.flickr.com/photos/camb/72624476/ Stealing photos is always a bad thing, but it puzzles me what's makes a member that doesn't write any critiques or comments posting stolen images. |

Very strange.
The majority of her photos are from the USA - Connecticut in 2005, California in 1995 and 1997, Nevada in 2007. The only thing I can add is that the member sounds very young. The intro has the tone of someone in her teens, including nothing of photography and revealing personal details not usually mentioned by members, and she mentions an older sister being only 18 years old. She also stays with a 'baby sitter'!? Still, all that is no excuse; if the member does not respond to emails or acknowledge an obvious theft and apologise and remove offending photos, then reporting this is quite a reasonable action. I find the gallery and intro mystifying. |
