Impressed by your shots on Odissi, this traditional dance from Orissa that I was lucky enough to attend an exhibition in my home town in France
This is simply superb and your shot shows it well despite the low light challenge
I was also fortunate to attend exhibitions of Bharata natyam when in Chennai last november
As a non-specialist both kinds of dances looked to me quite similar
I'll have to go to Orissa one of these days

Thanks for your critique - yes Odissi is remarkably similar to Bharatanatyam. Perhaps the greatest difference lies in the songs of accompaniment... It's an excellent idea to time your visit with a dance festival, if possible. I've heard a lot about the Puri Beach Festival and the Konark Dance festival. Both are spectacular displays of Orissa's dance and culture, although I would imagine the Konark festival to be more pictureque - with a 13th century stone temple as a backdrop... Cheers, biswaroop
