Hello Bev,
Seeing this I immediately thought of "William Brown", the Richmal Crompton character (in Swedish translations just known as Bill). These children are probably less naughty, but the B&W rendering with a touch of sepia brings us back to those days. There was no need for B&W in the WS. It's a very interesting machinery, but how terrible working conditions with that noise, and probably no protection to the workers's ears.

I know exactly whom you are referring to - Just William.
He was always called 'Just William'.
There were 39 books!
My brother read him but I'm afraid he passed me by!
