Default To emka: Chhatri

Thank you Malgorzata for your visit & critique. I should have mentioned what a Chhatri is in my note itself, because it's not a common word in India, leave alone for Westerners like you...

Chhatris are elevated, dome-shaped pavilions used as an element in Indian architecture, or funerary sites in India which have such structures built over them. Chhatris are basic element of Hindu as well as Muslim architecture. They can also be called "CENOTAPHS'

The term "chhatri" means umbrella or canopy. Chhatris are built on the cremation sites of kings, noblemen, wealthy or distinguished individuals. This particular chhatri which you see on the right is of the Bundela chief Bir Singh Deo, who ruled from Orchha 1605 to 1627 AD.
