Great snunney 2015-04-10 2:06

Hello Les,
A great composition with the path and the adjacent railing creating a wonderful long perspective. The partial desaturation is a splendid idea and beautifully done; it contributes much to the mood of the shot. The image has a fine range of tones and superb clarity. I trust that Gladys is fully recovered from her fall; I wish you both a pleasant weekend.

Default To kasianowak: thank you Kasia

Thanks for your kind comments.
At that time I couldn't get any closer than ten metres from the red line marking the border. Before I left home I had been to the Chinese embassy in Stockholm to enquire about a visa for Tibet. The man in the reception just stared at me blankly and told me to come back some other time.
It wasn't until 1986 that I found the opportunity.
Have a nice weekend,

Default China

You are welcome, as always!
By coincidence, I'm reading Tiziano Terzani's reports from China in June 1989 - so few years after it opened to the wider world, only three years after you got your visa. The world is full of surprises, both pleasant and not so much so.
Have a great weekend
