Great mafegan 2012-01-28 17:13

Hi Steve
The light in this image is superb as it beams on to the 4 central characters. The detail of the wall and the door covered in horseshoes provide a most interesting background. I am wondering if you scanned this from a negative or slide and what type of scanner you used? Excellent job. A favourite. Cheers, Marlene

Default To mafegan: a slide

Hi Marlene, It was scanned from a slide (Fuji Velvia). I bought a Nikon 4000 ED second hand a few years ago, which can scan both negs and slides. It only scans one slide at a time and takes a while to optimally adjust, also the dynamic range of the scanners sensor is sometimes less than the slide, so more than one scan and manual merging is required (as I did on this one to get details in the man dressed in white's gown. So, it can be time consuming but you can get decent images out of it. cheers, Steve
