Great vjmite 2021-06-07 5:49

Hi Mark,

A pretty amazing photo dominated by the red rocks and the bright blue sky, taken from a great viewpoint. You have captured some lovely patterns in the rocks, including cross-bedding. The circular hollow has been formed by flowing water, but it must be a rare flood event that sends water down this gully.

Default To vjmite: Waiting for water 3

Hi Vince,

Thank you for the critique.

Considering this hollow is now situated near the top of the New Wave area, some 50 to 90 feet above the surrounding desert, it's a very rare flood indead that will end water flowing though it. I'm just hoping to time another visit to the area for when there has been some (enough?) rain to leave some water standing in these pockets. However, as it's sandstone, I suspect I'd have hours rather than days in which to catch it.

Regards,
Mark
