Great Pyramid of Khufu, a photo from Giza, Delta

Photographer's Note

A shot taken during the sound and light laser show at the pyramids and Sphinx. The original white limestone capping is still intact on the apex of the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops in Greek) in the bg. It was too dangerous to attempt to remove it. The rest of the limestone capping was stolen for construction of mosques in Cairo. If you don't want to pay the additional fee for the sound and light show there is an equally good view from the rooftop terrace of the 4th floor of the Pizza Hut just across the road from the main gate.

Hi Chris, I never expected to see the Great Pyramid displaying this bright colour; it certainly catches the eye!
There is just enough reflected light to make out some of the features in the mid ground, and the light on the fg stones are a good lead in line to the main Pyramid.

Bonjour Chris,

Le Sphinx aide au cadrage de la pyramide. L'utilisation probable d'un support et d'une vitesse d'exposition lente permet de voir les détails du Sphinx et de la pyramide. Cela a aussi un effet spécial sur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hello Chris,

I applaud the Greek entrepreneurs who thought of this.
If you've got it, flaunt it!
The pyramid will look amazing in its own right through the day but then, with this spectacular illumination, it becomes a whole new attraction at night.
I like how the Sphinx is is acting as guide ... almost a doorman to the show!

Quelle est belle cette pyramide sous cette lumière et ces couleurs.Même le sphinx ressort bien à l'avant plan. J'aime beaucoup la couleur du ciel.
