Photographer's Note

The day after we visited the monastery of Debra Damo was an important annual festival, consequently there were many more people there than usual. It was necessary to queue in order to climb up the cliff on top of which is the monastery. Only men are allowed. The men are carrying plastic containers to collect holy water from the monastery. The yellow cape half way up belongs to an elderly priest. Did I go up, well I was in the queue!

Not an outstanding photo, but provides context to some earlier ones taken at the monastery.
