Photographer's Note
Fes is venerated and widely renowned as the cultural and religious centre of Morocco. Fes el-Bali, the largest medina in the world, is inhabited by aristocratic families, living here for centuries. Women from Fes are often regarded as the best wives in the Arabic world, well refined and skilled, literate, artistic, modest, fashionable... It is no surpise that the current King's Mohammed 6th wife is from Fes, computer engineer.
On the narrow streets of Fes el-Bali, I saw the contrast between the elegant lady in the front, and the old-fashioned woman, guiding her leather-loaded donkeys to the tannaries.
Life in Fes is an incredible mixture between modern and traditional life, attracting millions of tourists per year.

Hello Asparuh,
What attracted me to this photo is the location, Fez, home of the oldest university in the world. It dates back to the 9th century, a full century earlier than the second oldest, in Cairo. Your note informs the photograph well.
I see that you are originally from Bulgaria. Twice over the years, I visited Varna, which you must know well.
Warm regards,
Bulent
