I think the fishermen only recognise their boat by the name on it. I see no other possibility.
I really like the graphical effect of this picture. You've chosen the best POV and concentrated on these boats by excluding all the rest of the port.

Wow! Fantastic! The contrast of the bright blue with the browns, and the fact that the picture begins with two boats at the bottom and opens up with more boats as you move further away. What a great photo, it really takes a great eye to capture this!
