Photographer's Note
These camel thorn tree skeletons have been petrified in this form for around 900 years, due to climate change and drought the water flow of the river into the pan was blocked by the desert dunes (some of the highest in the world).
The trees lacked enough water to survive and so were immortalized in this form.
They stand guarding the pan like sentinels, silent and strong.

Hello Wanda - I really like the fact that you have removed the distinctive colours of the location and concentrated on the strong shapes of the petrified trees and landscape textures. The B&W is a refreshing take on a familiar location and the shot is excellent. I hope you don't mind if I add it to my Namibia Landscape theme. Warm regards rosemary

Dear Wanda,
Your choice of angle and the resulting composition are perfect, and as Rosemary pointed out earlier, the choice of b&w provided us with something special about Sossusvlei, a painting to the limit of being abstract. I like it a lot.
TFS.

Hello Wanda,
Almost original to deal this place in B&W knowing the strong saturated colors of this place. It makes us looking differently.

Hi Wanda,
famous red dunes in the black aand white version. it looks original and creative but i prefer the colour view (but there nmany of them already). but the graphic i mpact is strong here. Excellent composition. I am looking forward to seeing these dead trees in September.

Hi Wanda,
I've already seen pictures from this place but I love what you did with that. The choice of B&W is really relevant here and the composition well thought of with the trees not overlapping each other. Cool stuff.

Hi Wanda
I think this image is almost synonymous to Namibia, a well known icon. This is remarkable in BnW and striking landscape in spectacular details and sharpness rendering an artistique graphism effect - change from the usual saturated shots of Namibian dunes & trees. But it is the stark contrast that accentuates the strength of this shot. Superb capture, Congrats.

Wanda

Bravo

Till now I couldn't think about separating Namibia from the orange tones of its desert....but I have to say the black&white composition makes those petrified dead tree even more gloomy and gothic

hi wanda,
this is a visually stunning composition. the black and white presentation really isolates and contrasts the two main elements to this image, the trees and the sand. the trees look incredible, and your note on their age only adds to the intreging nature of the picture. the texture of the trees is superb.

brian
