Photographer's Note

This is my second photo in series about the Storm in the Atlantic Ocean. The first photo showed how the huge, pear-shaped bow raised over the water. This is the moment when it came back down hitting the water with enormous power and splashing it in a many-meter collar. There is visible a ship’s side in the picture. The moment the bow hit the water, deck of the vessel shook like during an earthquake and I was happy to be able to stand on my feet and not being thrown overboard. It is spoiling the picture but for me it is a reminder about the powers I encountered on that day and the risk I took to have this photo.
Of course I was not in Senegal, nor in its territorial waters. I was in the Atlantic Ocean on my way to Europe, but ET requires to name a country, so I inserted the country I was passing by.
But the storm was just approaching. In my next pictures of the series I will show what happened the next day, when the storm intensified.
