Late afternoon game drive. Stopped in the shade of a tree to drink something cool when the next moment this Eland crossed the road. Some background on this magnificent antelope:
Females weigh between 300 and 600kg and stand 125-153cm at the shoulder. Bulls weigh 400-1000kg and stand 150-184cm at the shoulder. Both bulls and cows have horns.
They prefer open plains and mainly feed on grass and tree leaves.
