Photographer's Note

Found only on Unguja, the main island of Zanzibar, the Red Colobus is recognised as a separate species and is said to be endemic to Zanzibar.

This monkey has a coat that ranges from dark red to black, accented with a black stripe along the shoulders and arms, and a pale underside. Its black face is crowned with long white hair, and features a distinguishing pink mark on its lips and nose.

It is now classified as an endangered species.

Salut André,

Joli portrait: pour le fond vert modelé avec un beau bokeh et une lumière douce qui a permis un contraste modéré qui va bien à ce sujet.
J'aime bien l'aspect un peu punk et halluciné, ça me fait penser au Doc de Back to Future.
Pour la profondeur de champs, j'aurais plutôt vu net avec le nez, mais je me fais souvent encore coincé sur la gestion de la profondeur de champs quand j'utilise un télé, peut etre que j'y fais trop attention car finalement le plus important est le regard qui est bien croustillant.

Isn't he just the cutest thing? He has such a poignant look Andre. I love the fringe of red hair that is just visible behind his ear. I am not really a great animal image fan but he is lovely. Nice work. How did you get him to sit still long enough to focus? Warm wishes Rosemary

très chouette portait! Comme Yves, je trouve qu'il fait très savant fou ce singe. Super netteté et un bokeh neutre pour faire ressortir l'animal. This ain't no monkey business!

J'adore sa coiffure!Cadrage, lumière, couleurs me conviennent très bien. Excellente netteté sur les yeux et les cheveux mais, comme Yves,petit regret pour la profondeur de champ un peu trop juste qui fait apparaître la bouche légèrement floue.

The lower position, ensures that the monkey
is tougher in the picture.
The beautiful composition emphasizes the
viewing direction.
