Photographer's Note
I do not find many pictures from Ellwangen (Jagst) here on TE, so it may be time for another one.
To the left is the Evangelische Stadtkirche and to the right Basilika St. Vitus.
This town developed in the 7th century as an Alemanic settlement in the Virgunna forest. It was besieged by Swedish troops om May 22, 1632.

Hej Gunnar,
Det var en överraskande bild, men kyrkorna är ju fina och den svarta himlen gör sig bra mot det varma ljuset mot kyrktornen. Det låga perspektivet gör mesta möjliga av ljuset.
Hälsningar,

Hi Gunnar
I love the way the light strikes these towers, especially against that ominous looking sky. The dark sky makes the colors very intense. I like your idea not to include ground level tooCheers

Good evening Gunnar,
Even with the cloudy grey sky, there was a glimpse of sun rays upon the tower and dome.
The combined beige and red/brown colors of the edifice is a style we saw in several places throughout Germany.
Beautifully lit and in contrast.
My best regards,
Ike

Bonsoir, cher Gunnar,
Très heureux de vous revoir sur le site. De plus, la photo proposée est de toute beauté. Les édifices ressortent magnifiquement avec cette lumière presque divine, le tout sur un ciel gris ardoise du meilleur effet.
Superbe.
Amitiés.

Hello Gunnar,
This is a fantastic picture. Colourful church in the sunlight and the threatening dark sky behind for the perfect contrast.
You note tells us that the Swedes were in early day not so peaceful if they are nowadays. That suits my observation in museums in Riga and Tallinn.

Hello Gunnar,
A beautiful light on the reddish tones of the facade of the evangelical church and also on the tiles of the tower of the basilica. In combination with the very dark sky the view is gorgeous.
A pretty combination of cold and warm colours.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Gunnar,
How nice to see you here! There are many places that has never been shown here or only a little. Sometimes the whole big country like Kazakhstan :). The dark sky can be more impressive then just the cloudless blue. Nice churches so close together.
Maybe I would correct a perspective a bit.

Hello Gunnar,
How nice to see you back posting more photographs!
You have written an interesting note and given us a beautiful picture to admire. Your photograph is perfectly composed and presents two quite different architectural styles, each also in quite different lighting. The Evangelische Stadtkirche on the left stands out magnificently as it is brightly lit against the dark and threatening sky while on the right the Basilika St. Vitus is displayed in softer light, perhaps more suited to its older and less embellished style.
Glorious light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Gunnar
Great you posting again!
Excellent crop in brilliant rich tones and contrast of the majestic looking architectures framed side by side in a class of their own. A striking image with powerful colours and immaculate detail taken on a brill light clinched by deep grey sky. It is always nice and rewarding to sit back and watch this vivid beauty even if only for one quick look. You grabbed the moment beautifully Congrats, TFS

I like the colours and the contrast with the dark sky, you have managed the lighting contrasts so aptly. Congratulations and thank you!

Hei Gunnar
Veldig bra!
Hilsen Erling

Hello dear Gunnar,
Nice to see you here back to TE !
Of course first of all many thanks to your critics to my todays entry.
And this one of yours from Ellwangen is just a topclass one with its unique light management and nice dark background which puts all details perfectly in sight.
Regarding TE, I often think on my father who was a very wellknown Prof. of Nuclear Physics in İstanbul.
When I was young I asked him a simple explanation of nuclear physics. His answer was allways thesame. "Everything which is been shared gets smaller and smaller and disappeares forewer in universe. Only since and love gets more and more if your share them" . This is my explanation for TE, allthough I also get from time to time serious problems and get quite angry. And of course quite sad when I see that so many good members -like you- are not much happy with it.
With may warmes regards from Istanbul

Hello Gunnar,
How lovely to see you posting again.
It is a pleasure to see former contributors, when so many regulars have left!
It is the light that is so noticeable in your photograph, creating such a contrast between the two buildings; one appears to be bright, the other shaded, though they are both equally sharp.
The triangular section, in the f/g, creates a fine lead line to the two, fine edifices which stand out well against the moody, dark sky.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello, Gunnar,
Sunlit tops of these buildings look great against the overcast sky. They give a good concept about architectural appearance of historic part of Ellwangen an der Jagst. Your picture and note, as well as Wikipedia say that this town is worth to be visited. Thanks for the useful information, both visual and textual!

Hi Gunnar
I know you posted this photo back in 2016, but I just had to take a closer look bc I enjoy it that much. the grey dark sky in the bg really sets the tone, and it allows for the two buildings to really shine through. excellent sharpness and clarity as well. nice shot here. cheers
