Photographer's Note
Driving along US highway 95, on a bright hot 104'F day from Palm Springs to Las Vegas, the 'call of nature' was imminent that we decided to stop by this establishment to take a relief. to our dismay, we found out this is an abandoned building which once was a general store, the town's largest building. we, nevertheless took the relief!!
Goffs, a small town in San Bernardino County, is a nearly empty one-time railroad town at the route's high point in the Mojave Desert. It was a stop along famous U.S. Route 66 prior to 1931.
Elevation @ 2,587 ft, this town's population as of January 2009 is 23 plus campers.

Hi Ben,
104F? Well this is almost 40C and that means HOT! You can cook an egg...I like a lot the effect of the ultra wide angle and the panorama crop. Well done!
I hope everything is ok with you.
Um abraço,
Carlos

Hello Benedict! I love these long forgotten places, they have such a potential when it comes to photography. See it was good to stop :))) I had a smiliar experience last year, in Olathe/Colorado, I mean who would ever stop there but it gave some interesting shots in the end. Love this round feeling in this one, something different. Fisheye lenses are really something, might think about it. Best regards, Barbara.

Hi Benedict,
Interesting use of your fisheye lens; I think it works well because if the simplicity of the scene with the building at the low point and curving road and clouds.

Hi Benedict,
Driving out on the high desert can be a very interesting experience, yet at time it can also be very boring. I'm glade that you found this forgotten and abandon place, not only for a relief, but you took a realy nice photo with good composition and details, I like the essence of the place, desolated, forgoton and there a sense of loneliness and a sence of sentimental and nostalgic. Thanks.
