Photographer's Note
Helmingham Hall Suffolk. It is hard to exaggerate the effect this beautiful park, with its red deer, spectacular moated Hall in mellow patterned red brick with its famous gardens will have on the visitor. The whole combines to give an extraordinary impression of beauty and tranquillity. A classic parterre flanked by hybrid musk roses lies before a stunning walled kitchen garden with exquisite herbaceous borders and beds of vegetables interspersed by tunnels of sweet peas, runner beans and gourds. On the other side lies a herb and knot garden behind which is a rose garden of unsurpassable beauty.
The colour combinations in all these are in immaculate taste and are both subtle and very beautiful.
The influence of the well-known garden designer Xa Tollemache, (Chelsea Gold award winner) is clearly visible - the parterre was redesigned in 1987 and the new rose garden to east of the coach house was created in 1982, together with the knot and herb garden.

Good Morning Iain,
I find this utterly beautiful. I always wish I could produce beautiful borders in my garden when I see images like this! My question is ... where is it?
A great pov to use the lines of that extended lawned path to guide down the entire garden, with plenty of time to enjoy the blooms. The terminal trees make a good focus and the soft, blue sky a lovely canvas.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hi Iain,
Ah, those halcyon days of summer! Will they ever return? Well, this might have been taken on the last day of spring, just before the summer solstice, but who cares?
A beautifully symmetrical composition with lovely summery colours and light. Lots of lovely bright summer flowers in the borders either side of that lush green lawn. Perfect exposure and lots of detail and sharpness too.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Iain
A superb exercise in perspective, leading to your principal subject in the distance, a fine copse of oak trees. ( there must be at least one, surely !! )
The colourful flowers add a certain interest, but it those trees which do it for me !
Seriously though, a fine image to keep us going through these cold dark days.. ( I cant quite decide what is gong on in the sky though ? A little pixelation maybe, but those straight lines ?)
Pleased to have caught up with you again, am trying to be a little more active now !

Oh, where have all the good & sunny times gone...
Lovely summery capture, Iain. I particularly like how the stretch of green makes a near (?) perfect triangle in the composition, giving an abstract touch to the scene.
