Sierra and Sylvania, a photo from Granada, Andalucia

Photographer's Note

This is the classical view of Loja taken from the Mirador de Sylvania. I made a point of stopping here as I was driving through Loja at about 1400 yesterday because the light was perfect and I wanted to capture the recent snow on the Sierra Nevada. From this Mirador you can see the spires of Loja’s three main churches and the old Arab castle the Alcazaba.
This same view appears in the Marx Brothers 1933 film Duck Soup when Loja doubles for the mythical Kingdom of Sylvania.

You have a very beautiful gallery of Andalucía!
I've never seen the movie Duck Soup but this view is stunning. It has all the components of a town near the Sierra Nevada: the many white houses, the church towers, the alcazaba on a hilltop with other typcial houses along the road leading to it and of course the snowcapped mountains.
I didn't realize there could be already that much snow in the beginning of November.
Very beautiful presentation of Loja.

Maravillosa esta panoramica de la ciudad de Loja, que es un lugar que no conozco pero que por tu bonita imagen parece muy interesante.
Magnifico POV con el caserio, las iglesias elevando sus campanarios y el castillo, encaramado sobre las altas rocas, preciosa la imagen de Sierra Nevada al fondo. Buen trabajo.
